Task 2: Visualisation

For this track 'Disconnected' the music video I would create for it would be that for the intro of the song, Jazz would be at her old house where she grew up with her brother. But as she is walking around the house there would be flashbacks of her and her brother when they were younger playing. Then when the song is at the line 'You're becoming a stranger' the flashback will start to fade. As the song gets to the line 'I know you're a man now' the camera will fade to her brother now as he's about to go to Afghanistan. It will then go from Jazz singing, still in the house to her brother in Afghanistan because she is singing about/to him. The end of the song will be her brother coming back and Jazz and her brother being so happy to see each other.

Assignment 2: Task 1 Initial Listen

Jazz Morely - Disconnected

What sort of mood and tone is conveyed?
The song is filled with emotion, it is conveyed in a way that is sad, but in a good way that it effects the audience. You can tell she's written the song about something that means a lot to her. The rhythm of the song and the piano sets the mood.

Does it sound similar to anything else you have heard?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DChHEf0lpEE

The link above goes to the song 'Wherever You Will Go' covered by Charlene Soraia. This is similar to 'Disconnected' in the sense that its a slow song with the same sort of effect on the audience, it is filled with emotion and the vocals are soft just like 'Disconnected'.

What genre would you describe the track as?
I would say the genre of the track would be more along the lines of soul because it is such a slow and emotional sound.

Family Guy Presentation Evaluation

In our group was, Me, Kerri, Amica and Abii we started our presentation by watching our chosen clip many times in depth to analyse each sound we could hear. We also researched the 'Family Guy' sound background, such as the 'Family Guy' orchestra. As a group we watched the clip and separated the Diegetic and the non-diegetic sounds. We found that the sounds in 'Family Guy' are mostly diegetic sounds. We also looked at the ambient sounds in family guy, such as the till in the first part of the clip. Our strengths for this presentation were that we had all researched 'Family Guy' and we had also presented the powerpoint in a way that we tried to not put too much text on each slide. Our weaknesses for this presentation were that even though we tried to put as little text on the slides as possible we still found that we read from the slides a lot. Also Abii was absent from that lesson but fortunately that didn't effect our group with our presentation because Abii had still put her input into the powerpoint. Over all our presentation went well, my target for our next presentation is to have notes instead of reading off the powerpoint, but our information and group work all went to plan and turned out well.
